Its been ages since I last blogged, so I decided to blog today thanks to something special happening today XD. I shall now begin my blog entry with a recap of what has happened so far during the holidays, from the first week until the happenings of today/ yesterday. So hold on tight to your seat belts cause its gonna be a long ride XD ( always wanted to say that =3 )
First week The holidays kicked off with the need to return to school the 30th May for my GP TCA 2 which went rather horribly by my standards. I can't believe that I totally didn't read the instructions and ended up with only five minutes on the necessary portion for the essay portion. Thankfully I think I did rather well for my content portion. Despite the fact that I didn't read the content packs AT ALL, most of the questions were well.... required more of General Knowledge and the ability to SMOKE, which I am rather good at. Haha. The second time which I required to return to school was on Friday and for a rather long period. The day started with the need to return to school for tennis training which was rather fruitless thanks to the rather on and off showers of rain that morning. After "training", I went on for Math and which wasn't of much help as the teacher was not really explaining the questions well. Or rather, she was explaining the wrong questions.. the easier questions and that caused me to loose my concentration... After which, was the going through of the GP TCA 1. Rather than listen to the teacher who is 2 years older than me yak, I decided to spend my time in a better way. To finish my Chinese homework. The day ended with me and a couple of other classmates running off without the lesson really ending. On Sunday, after a really good lunch of Terayaki Temptation at Subway, I went for something special, Ken's practice recital at the Young Musician's Society in the evening. Apparently Ken was to sing two songs during the intermission. The thing is, this function was actually a place for really young musicians, around the age of five to ten. But boy were they good! There were only a few who fumbled here and there. Heres a snippet of one of the young performers in action.
And Ken performed two songs during the intermission, a German song titled Sonntag and an English song rather familiar to most, Somewhere Over the Rainbow. I felt he sang both songs really well by may standards. Here are his performances.
And heres the picture of all the young performers and my cousin Ken. The week was mostly spent on relaxing and catching up on both Anime and the much needed sleep, which I lacked during the school term. Time was also spent on tennis here and there with Timothy. Didn't do any studying this week apart from completing the math tutorials needed during the math extra lesson.
Second week The second week was the Church Camp week. As Church Camp started on Wednesday, I decided that I really needed to do some studying as I would probably be slacking entirely during those three days and would probably be out cold for the next two days and a routine hangover for not sleeping on the last night and not having much sleep during the entire Camp. So I spent Monday and Tuesday studying a bit. Spent my time reading my Physics notes of with content I mostly could recall and packing for the Church Camp. After studying a little on Monday and Tuesday, I decided to bring my stuff to camp to study. I mean what could be better? Having three days in a fully air-conditioned surrounding filled with good food a great bed and being away from all forms of entertainment which can waver your concentration! So I brought my Chemistry, Economics and Dynamics notes along with me for Camp. At the start of Camp on the bus, I realised that both Ken and I forgot to bring our bag tags and as usual, we didn't really care and went along with the flow of things. Once on the bus, we hit the books, me reading up on my Chem Bonding notes and Ken his Organic Chem notes. After completing two chapters each, we arrived at the immigration checkpoint. After getting our passports done, we got on the bus and watched FMA the movie on my iPod. Much time was spent listening to music and chatting about random stuff on the bus. When we arrived at the hotel in Seremban, I realised that the hotel was really really nice, the best one we've been to. The Camp then went on with its usual pace, going on from lessons to discussions , meals and free time but this time with the inclusion of time for studying. Lessons during this Camp took a rather different approach as there was more discussions and stuff was more organised. I rather liked the time for discussions but I felt that it lacked the punch as most of my group members were rather quiet. But thanks to our leader Shawn, I think we pulled through rather well. Devotions were rather impactful and direct to the point. I liked the devotions done by the Churches overseas especially the one by the guy form Tuao. I also enjoyed this year's Prayer Walk as at least there was a fixed outline to pray about rather than praying about anything which came to mind. However, I felt that there was insufficient time for some stations which I felt was not very good. The food at the camp was really good especially the barbecue dinner on the last day. The gym was rather old and stuffy and the machines didn't seem very well maintained. But overall at least I felt really good after the work out =) Other sports which I attempted during the Camp was tennis with Uncle Lee Hock, Uncle Lee Hock's wife and Glenn. Free time spent in the Camp was spent on studying. But I only got round to studying Chem. On the first day, after all the activities, I hit the books, reading a bit of Chem notes. Then one of my roommates, Glenn, noticed and decided to go through the stuff with me. And boy was he good, he went through the entire stack of notes without having to refer for almost all the stuff and the format which he explained was the same as the notes! How cool is that! So at least I got quite a bit done for Chem on the first day. On the second day, I spent my free time doing some of the Chem holiday homework. And on the third day, I spent my free time watching the Godfather III which was really cool with all the random shooting and stuff. Haha. And for the first time in the entire line of Church Camps which I have been to, I actually slept on the last night, despite the fact that it was around 1 the following morning.. Well instead of fellowshiping with the rest of the youth downstairs in the lobby, I spent my time having a discussion about the Education system in Singapore with Glenn and my other roommate, Kevin. After a rather heated discussion and some random jokes regarding South Park, we turned in for the night. In between, Ting was calling to check whether I had gone down and did something stupid with Ken. Cause the thing is, in the afternoon, Ting, Ken and I were in my room and we were just talking and suddenly, Ken and I came to the conclusion that we haven't done anything stupid in ages. So we walked out the the balcony and low and behold, we noticed that the balconies were linked. Suddenly, Ken had a brainwave. He came up with the idea of walking along the balconies to the next room and give people a scare by tapping on the glass door of the balcony and screaming at the top of our voices in the middle of the night. However, this plan never came to light as we weren't allowed to go to other people's rooms in the last night, let alone walk along balconies.. Overall, I felt that it was a fun and enriching Camp.
Third week Well, much has been said about my first two weeks of my holiday. However, my third week of holiday has been spent studying studying and getting myself addicted to the Anime, Lucky Star. On Monday, I headed on down to Queenstown Library and spent a whooping seven hours on Math, both practising what I had learnt during the PAE period as well as trying to complete my Math holiday homework. But I felt that I couldn't have done it without the help of the two reasonably hawt girls sitting opposite me. Their presence studying opposite me spurned me to MUG more. Partial Fractions, Sigma Notation and Binomial sped by quickly as I made haste to complete as much as I could. Every time when I felt that I was brain dead and really wanted to leave, I looked up and noticed them studying diligently and I told myself that I HAD to do likewise so that was exactly what I did. I studied. After the seven hours of non-stop Math I decided to reward myself with the really nice Chicken Rice at the Queenstown hawker centre. Sadly the stall wasn't open. So I ended up with fishball noodles instead. But the strange thing is, sitting there and eating the nice bouncy fishballs, a whole wave of the past suddenly hit me. I suddenly recalled what it felt like when I was three and when my mom brought me here for lunch after spending the entire morning in the Library..... Those were the days, constantly looking for Asterix comics to read and sitting around doing nothing... Now, the Library has a totally different purpose, a sanctuary for one to study in peace. On Tuesday, I spent the morning doing Math then went for tennis with Daniel and Zhi Hua. But this time, we ended up playing in the rain which was actually rather fun. We were soaked to the skin despite the fact that were were all wearing dry-fit material.. After which I headed down to my classmates house at Fajar to do my Project Work. Spent most of the time finding answers to the questions which I had made and snacking on what my classmate had to offer. Haha. Went home rather stinky with the scent of a mixture of sweat and rain water in my clothes. On Wednesday, I spent the morning doing Math and Chem and in the afternoon completing my Chinese tuition homework. The day ended with me watching more Lucky Star. It is so insanely addictive. I highly recommend it to everyone!
Today I awoke with the soft a rather irritating buzzing of my handphone alarm. Despite knowing the importance of the need to study, it took me ten minutes to find the the phone and turn off the irritating buzzing. I then went on with the completion of my Math holiday homework and watching two episodes of Lucky Star. Konata just drives me nuts with her rather dead way of talking.... I can't stand the Lucky Channel at the end of each episode either. I feel that it is just dumb! But at least it still cracks me up. After that in the afternoon, I went on for the 4/2 class gathering. Overall, I really enjoyed it. Despite knowing my classmates for 2 years only, it really felt as though I've known them forever. We were able to play games and sit around and just talk so freely. That feeling is just to die for. Being able to talk to them really brought back memories of my Secondary three and four years. Thinking back, I really enjoyed it to the fullest. Incidentally I felt that the class has really been bonded in those two years. Thinking back of my secondary three and four years really brings back sweet memories to me and at the same time tears to my eyes as I know that we will never have the chance to be able to study like that again. I regret being unable to know each and every person better. But at the same time, I am really glad that the Lord God has blessed me with such a great, bonded class to spent what many consider the prime of their schooling days. I am also really thankful that the Lord has blessed me with such wonderful friends whom I can still talk to very freely about anything despite being streamed into different schools and not being able to meet each other for the pass 6 months or so. At the start of the gathering, we went on to take the luge which cost a whooping nine dollars for a sky ride, a ski like transport which brings one to the top of a hill in Sentosa and the luge, something similar to Go-karting down the hill in a vehicle which is rather similar to a wheel barrow. Heres a picture of Johan, me and Casey in the sky ride taken by Cheng Hong in the seat before ours. The first few people whom I met apart from Casey were Jeronme and Boris. Boris hasn't changed much and its great to know that hes in Tennis too. At least now, theres one more person to be able to meet in next year's Tennis tournament XD. The next few people who came into sight were Johan, Ling Yang, Cheng Hong, Jun Kai and Jowell, followed up by the girls, Su Jing, Wan Ping, Ke Li, Xing Ying, Hsing Ming and Su Ling. After having a really fun time racing down in the luge, we went on to play Captain's Ball at the beach. After playing, and feeling all hot and sweaty, we went on to get drinks from 7 11 before heading on down to Palawan Beach. Once there, we went on to play frisby. We kept on playing even though we couldn't even see where we were throwing the frisby. But that didn't spoil the mood one bit. We finally decided to stop around eight and ended up sitting down on small pieces of tissue paper along the beach and talking about random stuff and getting loads of laughs along the way. We finally departed from Sentosa at 9. Along the way, we kept on taking photos of each other. Here are the photos which we have taken. This is the group of us who remained behind. (See how dark it is? Imagine us playing frisby in this kinda lighting XD, note the orange firsby in Xin Ying's hand) Foreground (From left to right): Wan Ping, Su Jing, Hsing Ming, Cheng Hong, Xing Ying Background (From left to right): Casey, me, Johan, Jowell, Jia Hao, Jun Kai This is a pic taken of us on board the monorail leading to vivocity. We finally took our dinner after taking numerous photos. I felt that this gathering was really fruitful and I am really glad that everyone's going on well in their new environment. Its been great talking to Johan and knowing more about his school life in CJ as well as knowing about Cheng Hong and his life in SP, joining Dragon Boat. Although I felt that I didn't get to do much catching up with Jowell and Jun Kai. I am really looking forward to the next gathering. I just wanna say a big Thank You to the organiser of this Gathering. Really happy for today but really tired at the same time. Been a long time since I've typed this much.. Now for more Lucky Star and to hit the sack soon. To my classmates in 4/2, Good Luck in your new schools and take Good Care of yourselves! You've been really great friends!
